ROMANCE WAS BORN
Loved the Romance Was Born's Bush Magic collection earlier in the year. I especially loved the make up and styling, all blue eyes and wattle in their hair. A salute to the Australian bush.
MYER FIND RACING
Another epic live drawing event was held outside Myer last month in the Bourke St mall for the lead up to the Melbourne Cup carnival. It featured myself and fellow fashion illustrators Emma Leonard and Angie Rehe. We drew up a storm for 7 hours! Drawing outfits live from the street. Did I draw you?

VOGUE'S FASHION'S NIGHT OUT AT MYER
Last Friday night was Vogue's Fashion Night Out in Melbourne and I was asked back to sketch outfits live at Myer. Each outfit is quickly sketched on a body template and the customer gets to keep the drawing as a memento of their outfit of the day. It's always fun to meet and draw such different stylish ladies, see the current trends and draw like a crazy lady! Some people waited in a queue for over an hour so I hope I got to draw you! I went as quick as my fingers would go.
Here are some of my fave sketches of the night. Lots of leather, long coats, capes and black. Well it was Melbourne! Thanks to Jacky Winter, Myer and Vogue Australia for having me.
You can check my instagram page for a little flipagram of the day @nerylwalker
LIPPIES!
It was National Lipstick Day on the 29th July. Yes there is apparently such a thing!
Lipstick is thought to have been invented by ancient Mesopotamian women who crushed jewels to decorate their lips. Cleopatra's lipstick was made from crushed carmine beetles, while shinier lipsticks were made from fish scales.
We've come a long way baby. Pucker up!
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER SKETCH
A quick sketch of a couple of fave looks from the amazing Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture AW15 collection in Paris. No computer, just pencils on paper. I just love that orange and black dress! So lush.
WEEKEND SALE!
One short but sweet print sale is happening NOW to say thanks to all my new (and old) instagram followers! I loves ya.
20% off all limited edition prints in the shop. Just write the code BottomsUp at checkout to receive the discount. For three days only, ending at midnight EST 22nd June.
Happy weekend! Mwah!
GET YOUR HAIR DID
I have been going big hair crazy over on my Pinterest page. So many bouffants, beehives, up do's and a whole lotta hairspray on one page. So this little pattern that's big on hair was born. I think it would be perfect on make up cases, bags, scarves and as someone suggested a sweet silk blouse.
REAL AUSTRALIANS SAY WELCOME
After a post on the Design Files Instagram page, a bunch of different artists jumped on board to spread Peter Drew's anti racist message 'Real Australians Say Welcome'.
He designed and screen printed 1000 of his own posters with this message, and he is plastering them up all over Australia (in all 8 capital cities!) You can follow his travels on Instagram or on Facebook.
I had such nice feedback from my image and had requests to turn it into a print. So it is now available as an A3+ and A2 poster. Just email mail@neryl.com if you would like one.
JUNGLE BOOGIE!
My printed Jungle Room cushions just arrived in the mail! I am super chuffed with the quality. The colours are spot on and they are printed on a soft linen textured fabric, not too dissimilar to a backcloth which I love! I've attached some close up pics of the fabric below to show the texture. The same image appears on the front and back and they are finished with an invisible zip. Sweet!
There will be more designs to come but I currently have just a few of the Jungle Room cushions 16" x 16" (41 x 41cm) available for sale in the shop, retailing for AUD$55 plus GST. Sold without the insert.
Registered postage in Australia is $7.50. International postage with tracking is $23.
20% OFF PRINTS BIRTHDAY SALE!
It's birthday month so I'm celebrating with a sale. 20% off store wide!

Here are some photos to show sizing of the larger prints. The A0 is a whopper. More large print designs will be coming to the shop soon!

BUSINESS CARDS
I recently had the pleasure of designing these business cards for Melbourne photographer Steen Vestergaard. The brief was to have a retro, old school glamour vibe with a fashion/photographer element. I was thinking Dior, Audrey Hepburn, you know the classics, and came up with several designs.
Steen being a dream client decided to go with 3 of the designs and then we agreed that letterpress printing would be the best way to go. Ace! The Hungry Workshop did a sterling job of the 2 colour print job and I am super happy with results. Letterpress printing has such a nice tactile quality and hopefully these will stand the test of time through different fashion trends like an old classic.
LIVE FASHION DRAWING AT THE MYER WORKROOM
I was asked along with the talented Kat Macleod to sketch fashion outfits live in store for some of Myer Melbourne's customers. It was part of their Autumn Winter 2015 launch in the Myer Workroom created by Gloss Creative. Lucky shoppers (and instagram fans) came along to have their outfit of the day sketched onto an already drawn silhouette created by both of us.
I must confess I was pretty daunted at the thought of drawing live in front of people, (especially when one is used to scribbling away in their own hidey hole), but I am glad that I said yes! It was fun meeting, chatting and drawing everyone's outfits from young kids to adults.
This lady was aahhmazing! So stylish. You don't see enough people wearing hats. We had long chats about her vintage clothes collection (which sounded pretty wild) and well I just thought she was ace and I could have chatted all day.
It was busy! Four days of non stop drawing and lots of happy customers. Did I mention the customers got to keep the sketch! You can see more on my instagram page @nerylwalker
Thanks to Jacky Winter and Myer Melbourne for having me!
