Femlins are go!

I feel so incredibly lucky to be the artist chosen to reinterpret the iconic Playboy Femlin, originally designed by LeRoy Neiman in the 50's.

Now you can take the impish gal home with you.

Three new A4 giclee prints of designs used in Playboy Magazine - 'Lets Dance', 'Like Me' and 'Book Smarts'. Now available as a limited edition of 100, hand signed and numbered on 300gsm art paper, using archival inks.

There is also a special bundle price to buy all three designs with combined shipping if you just can't decide!

Check her out in the shop.

Late last year I received an email from Playboy US asking me to create an updated version of Leroy Neiman’s Femlin. I was beyond excited and flattered. I have always loved Neiman’s mischievous, nymphish character he created for the Party pages of Playboy magazine in 1955 and continued to create in the 60’s and 70’s.

It was so fun to work on this. It’s not often I receive a job where nudity is actually encouraged! And the art directors at Playboy were so lovely to work with.

I’m yet to see it in print but here are some of the images which are in the new quarterly Playboy magazine which launched Jan 18th 2019. Keep your eyes peeled at quality news stands.

As you might know, I have a love of all things vintage and mid century modern. It’s from this passion that I have decided to team up with long term partner and collaborator, Tim Haynes to bring you a new homewares brand called MODNLOVR.

Photo Andrew Lloyd

We’ve designed a mid century inspired planter and we’re excited to announce that it is now available for sale in the US! It’s made from spun metal and will come in a range of colours, the first two to launch - silver and copper. We are incredibly happy with this product. It was important to us not to make a throw away product, something that would last for years to come like our treasured vintage goodies. We hope you love the result too! It’s currently available for sale in the US here.

I had lots of fun creating artwork for the branding and packaging. The planter comes gift boxed in an eco friendly box. We do not use any plastic in our packaging.

Come join us on our journey on Instagram and Facebook. Join our mailing list to hear about new product releases, sales information and to receive 10% off your first purchase.

We hope to release more colours very soon and stay tuned for other country releases.

And a big thanks to Andrew Lloyd for his stellar photography and Gallery Midlandia for the gorgeous location. :)

So happy to be asked back to exhibit at Spoke Art as part of their pop up 12 x 12 exhibition at Vertical Gallery in Chicago.

Lots of great artists involved and the only stipulation being that the artwork was to be 12 x 12”. Here’s my piece, ‘We Got The Beat’.

Calling all covens, lovers of all things witchy, bitchy and little bit wicked! I had such a fun time working on the Bitchcraft Calendar -The Art of Being A Wicked Woman by Workman Publishing. Pairing my illustrations with my kinda mantras like ‘My Crystal Ball tells me that you’re full of shit’. Makes the perfect gift for any wannabe witch or cynic.

Available via several online and bricks and mortar stores in the US including Amazon. Pageaday.com are offering a 20% discount if you use the coupon Bitchcraft20 on their site until the end of 2018. It is also available online in Australia via Angus and Robertson, Booktopia and eBay amongst others.

I’ve been super busy of late working on commercial projects and painting towards my solo exhibition as part of Outre Gallery’s Small Wall Project.

'Broad Appeal' opens April 13th - 22nd. It looks to celebrate women and the power inherent in women owning their sexuality, rather than being objectified by it.

The term ‘broad’ originated in the 1930’s and was popularised in the 40’s and 50’s as slang for an independent, assertive/aggressive woman. Someone who sings loud, parties hard, has a strong will and a sarcastic sense of humour.

I'll be exhibiting a selection of original paintings on plywood. If you have been after some original Neryl artwork for a while, now is your chance!

If you live in Melbourne I'd love you to join me for the opening on:

Fri 13th April at 6pm. (Yes Friday the 13th, hopefully a good omen) :)

I was recently asked to be a part of a group show, NSFW at Spoke Art in San Francisco. The show featured over 40 female and femme identifying artists who explored the topic of female sexuality. The varied works included painting, embroidery, neon and prints. Some of the artists involved were Miss van, Laura Berger, Jessica Hess, Petite Luxures, Jessica So Ren Tang, Winnie Truong, Robin Eisenberg, Meryl Pataky, Sabrina Elliot and more. Dasha Matsuura curated the show and you can read her interview about the show in Juxtapoz magazine here. Plus another interview here.

Aloha! A new print is in the store and somehow I forgot to post it here! Following on from China Girl, this is Leilani, featuring all things Hawaiian. The name was inspired by the Hoodoo Gurus song of the same name, taken from their classic 80’s debut album, Stoneage Romeos. It’s still a fave of mine. Leilani is a Hawaiian name that means heavenly flower.

My great grandfather lived in Hawaii for sometime and came back to Australia to design and build his home inspired by his travels, complete with palm trees. It was a very unusual design for 1905. He named it Hale Mauka (house on the hill) and it still stands today.

She is available in A3 size up to A0 poster size. Shown below holding the A2 size. Head to the shop for more details.

I was recently asked to draw live fashion sketches at three Caulfield Spring racing carnival events - Guineas Day, Blue Sapphire Stakes Day and the Caulfield Cup. Catalina Sounds sponsored the event in the David Jones Fashion Stable. Myself and 3 other illustrators quickly sketched people's outfit of the day as a little memento for them to take home. It was hugely successful with the crowds. I drew some amazing outfits over the 3 days both on paper and digitally on the iPad Pro using Procreate app. Thank you Apple Australia and Matt from Pro Create for this welcome addition. One special feature of this app is the instant replay, a step by step of how each drawing was created on the iPad, which people loved.

It was a busy, fun filled few days so I will leave you with a few of my fave sketches. Many thanks to the Melbourne Racing Club and Catalina Sounds for having me and for Jacky Winter for making it happen.

Look out for me at Flemington at The Melbourne Cup and Oaks Day!
